1. Lancaster was a Birmingham optician who developed a range of cameras in the late 19th Century. He became the biggest camera producer in UK, and only ceased trading in 1950.

This camera is a quarter-plate brass and mahogany Post 1890 quarter plate Instantograph model.

I’m not certain of the exact model,


  • Black bellows in excellent condition with diagonal corners
  • Hinged back
  • Rotary lens shutter
  • Lancaster shield and ivory nameplate
  • Leather handle, complete, but in need of re-stitching.
  • Dovetail joints
