This is a vintage German Grubenlampe (mine lamp) produced by aVEB Grubenlampenwerk Zwicku in the former GDR (East Germany), for use in explosive environments.
It is a portable electric lantern specifically designed for use in mines, featuring a durable metal battery casing and a protective cage over the lens.
These lamps were originally powered by a nickel-cadmium (NiCd) battery.
- Dimensions: The lamp is approximately 43 cm in height, with the battery compartment measuring roughly 10 x 12 x 15 cm and the lens housing having a diameter of 15 cm
